B.A. - PSYCHOLOGY (Hons.)
The major goal of the programme as a part of liberal arts education is to provide the students with a basic knowledge of the human mind and its functioning. Also, it focuses on developing multiple skills sets which are application oriented and bring the study of mind under experimental scrutiny. The course strives to provide relevant inputs on theoretical and social aspects that involve the mind – the conscious, sub – conscious and the unconscious.
Encompassing the detailed study of the thought processes, human behavior and mind, the 3 – year undergraduate programme in Psychology is aimed at providing the students with an interdisciplinary understanding of the biological structure of the human mind, its behaviors, as well as cognitive based-psychology. The curriculum offers an amalgamation of varied facets of psychology along with the sub fields which are interdisciplinary in nature like Biopsychology, Psychology of individual differences and Psychiatric social work to name a few. The programme seeks to promote as well as nurture high academic standards and in -depth learning by fostering an enriching learning ecosystem with a thrust on professional and personal development which would contribute effectively to societal needs and growth of the individual. Knowledge of human psychology helps the students to be good practitioners of law, education, medicine, business, and life in general.
B.A.- ENGLISH (Hons.)
The major goal of the programme as a part of liberal arts education is to develop strong analytical skills and a solid foundation in the discipline of English. The course is designed to provide the students with a basic knowledge of the study of literary forms and genres and theories of textual analysis. The course builds capabilities around the artistry and utility of the English language for channelizing skills of creative writing as well as interpretive and aesthetic sensitivity. The course strives to develop critical faculties, necessary in an academic environment, on the job, and in a globalized world.
