Field visit to NIEPID

A field visit was organised by the Dept. of Psychology to the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) in Hyderabad from 19/8/24 to 24/8/24. It was a valuable experience for third-year psychology students. The field visit was coordinated by Prof. Vidya Pujari along with Prof. M. Asha to oversee the success of the tour. The visit provided students with firsthand exposure to the challenges and interventions related to intellectual and developmental disabilities. Students engaged in interactive sessions with professionals, learning about various therapeutic techniques, assessment tools, and rehabilitation programs offered at NIEPID. They observed real-time sessions, gaining practical insights into behavior modification, early intervention, and family counselling practices. The tour enhanced students’ understanding of inclusive education and the role of mental health professionals in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. This experience was not only educational but also inspiring, reinforcing students’ commitment to their field of study.
